Base period
January 2025 = 100. All index values express price levels relative to average transaction prices in January 2025.
Data source
Fiscal receipts scanned by Kinta app users, verified against the Serbian Tax Administration fiscal system (PFR). Only PFR-confirmed receipts are included. Kinta measures transaction (paid) prices — what buyers actually paid at checkout, including discounts and promotions.
Publication cadence
Published every Monday at 06:00 CET, covering the preceding Monday–Sunday week.
Category inclusion criteria
A category is included in the index only when median SKU coverage exceeds 50 verified receipts per week nationally. Currently: Fuel, Bread, Dairy, Coffee, Energy drinks.
Basket construction
Each category index uses the top 5–10 SKUs by purchase frequency among Kinta-verified buyers, weighted by that frequency. Basket composition is reviewed quarterly.
Geographic coverage
City-level indexes are published only for cities where receipts per week exceed 200. Currently: Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš, Kragujevac, Subotica. Smaller cities are pooled as "Other Serbia."
What Kinta does not measure
Shelf prices (Kinta only sees checkout prices), confirmed promotional flags (Kinta can model likely promotions from price variance but does not confirm them), sales volumes, demographic data, or loyalty card affiliation.
YoY comparisons
Year-over-year comparisons require 12 months of Kinta data. The first valid YoY comparison will be published in July 2026.
